On the afternoon of October 15, 2008, Zhou Xu, Director of the Chongqing Science & Technology Commission and some leaders of the planning department and New & Hi-Tech office of Chongqing Science & Technology Commission, totally five person visited the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, and were accompanied by Huang Zongming, Vice-president of Chongqing University,  Yu Honglin, Director of Division of Science and Technology of Chongqing University, Lei Da, Vice director of Division of Science and Technology of Chongqing University, Xiong Qingyu, Vice director of Division of Science and Technology of Chongqing University and Zheng Zhoulian, Vice director of Division of Science and Technology of Chongqing University, etc.
    Prof. Zhang Dingfei, Vice director of National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, firstly gave an introduction in details of the research and development, international exchanges, industrialization and other aspects of the progress of magnesium alloys in recent years of the center and reported on the future development ideas, and also greatly appreciated to the Chongqing Science & Technology Commission for their long-term supports and help to the center.
    Zhou Xu, gave a high rank of a large number of innovative work made by the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, Chongqing University, also gave many valuable suggestions and guidelines on the future development of our center. He pointed out that the Engineering Research Center must be based on the service to the community and industry; insist on going out, and development and transfer of the advanced technology which was much-needed of the state and local economic development. In addition, he put forward higher requirements in the international cooperation of the center, and hoped that our center pay more effort to do some original technology and foreign senior talents when we introducing the mature foreign technology and equipment.
    Finally, Huang Zongming, vice-president of Chongqing University gave a speech. He was very grateful to the Chongqing Science & Technology Commission for his always great support to Chongqing University. He said that our university would continue on the support and help to the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys on the base construction, supporting funds and the talents guaranteeing, and ensure that the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys smoothly pass the assessment of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and make the center to develop a world-class R&D center of magnesium alloys.
